What good is a judge that cannot tell the difference between "right" and "wrong" and relies only on "the law" ?? Laws of the land are our attempt to define what we think is "right" and "wrong" in advance, and even the lawmakers agree that we sometimes fail at that. Therefore, we appoint judges to interpert "right" and "wrong" but it seems that judges today are placing "the law" above all else.
